Checklist for choosing an orthodontic dental clinic
- Orthodontic diagnosis method — Check how the clinic decides between extraction and non-extraction treatment.
- Dedicated orthodontic care — Confirm whether they handle regular follow-ups and retainer checks as a dedicated system.
- Repeated keywords in reviews — Look for repeated mentions of no overtreatment, kindness, retainers, and pain control.
- Balance between rating and review count — If the rating is high but the review count is small, look at recent reviews too.
- Walking distance from the station exit — Even near Changdong Station or Ssangmun Station, distances vary by exit.
- Day-of-week hours — Some clinics have different closing times on Monday and Tuesday, so confirm before booking.
- How costs are explained — Ask whether expected costs and possible extra charges are explained clearly before consultation.
- Retainer management fees — Confirm the policy for retainer checks and replacements after orthodontic treatment.
- Child and teen orthodontic consultation — If it is for your child, ask about growth assessment and extraction criteria.
- Parking and booking method — Parking capacity and booking methods are often not provided, so check by phone.
Warning signs to watch for
- It is best to avoid clinics that strongly push extraction from the first consultation without proper diagnosis.
- Be careful with places that are vague about total cost or do not mention possible additional charges in advance.
- Even if the rating is high, a very small number of reviews or reviews concentrated on one date should be checked more carefully.
- Be cautious if a clinic strongly pushes large prepaid treatment packages before the consultation.
